Creating the warmth of timber with fresh whites and thousands of strung lights in a timeless look for the winery and barrel room at Flaxton Gardens.
Chris and Rachel
We both really like the timber and the feeling of home. So we felt like we achieved that with the timber tables and timber accents in the wooden place settings. The long timber tables we thought felt like a big family dinner and everyone being able to chat with each other and discuss their amazing meals.
So I guess we were kind of following the fashion trends with long timber tables and neutral colour palette but then we wanted a white freshness.
What’s the best piece of advice the Flaxton Gardens team gave you?
Make sure you stop to enjoy the moment as it goes by so fast and Flaxton was 100% correct!
What’s the most unique thing about Flaxton Gardens?
They were so open to ideas and requests we had whether a small intimate wedding inside or big bash outside. Nothing was out of reach. Having done weddings for so long they also had a large knowledge of local suppliers when we were having trouble finding some.
Newlywed Advice (for other couples planning their wedding):
Don’t sweat the small stuff, some things are out of your control ie: weather. Work with suppliers you like and trust. You have to have a good relationship with them so you can discuss openly your ideas. Florists, celebrants, venues all know what they are doing so trust that.
Which song did you choose for your first dance (and why did you choose that song)?
We chose Ed Sheeran ‘Best Part of Me’ ft Yebba as our first dance. We could really relate to the words as we can’t believe we have been lucky enough to be loved by each other. Also when we were first pregnant with our daughter Halle, Ed Sheeran was the first concert she went to in my belly. So it all worked out perfectly.
What was the bride’s highlight of the day?
Definitely seeing Chris’ face when the doors opened with his big grin.
Also, our reception in the barrel room was next level! I was so blown away.
What was the Groom’s highlight of the day?
Seeing Rachel come through the doors “she looked beautiful” and seeing our young toddling daughter Halle stumbling down the aisle.
